About TEXPEX

TEXPEX is the Texas Philatelic Exhibition which grew out of the annual meeting and exhibition of the Texas Philatelic Association. The name “TEXPEX” was used first in the mid-1960’s and was held at different locations sponsored by local clubs.

In 1988, TEXPEX was granted “World Series of Philately” status by the American Philatelic Society (APS) at the event held in Corpus Christi, Texas. In 1993, the show permanently moved to the Dallas area sponsored by the Southwest Philatelic Foundation, consisting of a group of North Texas stamp clubs.

In 1996 the show was held in San Antonio to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Texas Philatelic Association.  In 2009 the show was held at the Arlington Convention Center in conjunction with the APS AmeriStamp Expo, the national group's major winter event.

For 2012 TEXPEX was given a one-year bye from the APS to reorganize and establish a new venue.  In 2013, the TEXPEX Foundation was established to encourage the educational aspects of philately, and to aid in collecting, studying of, and sharing of knowledge about postage stamps, postal history, and all related areas of philatelic activities, and to conduct TEXPEX and other philatelic events in Texas.

The show venue was established as the Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center in Grapevine, Texas beginning in 2013.
